Shockwave Therapy FAQs
Shockwave therapy is an alternative, non-invasive treatment for ED.
The clinical term for shockwave therapy is low-intensity shockwave therapy (LiSWT). It has also been used to improve wound healing. Using targeted high-energy sound waves, LiSWT can speed up tissue repair and cell growth.
Healthy blood flow to the penile tissue is necessary for erections. Shockwave therapy is regarded favorably as a method of enhancing blood flow and rebuilding and fortifying blood vessels in the penis. Increasing blood flow to the penis is the same goal as more traditional ED treatments, such as oral medications, including sildenafil (Viagra) and tadalafil (Cialis).
Shockwave therapy is administered with a wand-like device placed near different areas of the penis. A healthcare professional moves the device along parts of your penis for about 15 minutes while it emits gentle pulses. No anesthesia is needed.
The pulses trigger improved blood flow and tissue reconstruction in the penis. Both of these changes lead to erections sufficient for sex.
Anyone experiencing chronic ED could be a candidate.
More and more men in Ottawa are identifying ED as a significant health risk due to the city’s aging population. People are expecting great intimacy later in their life cycles as a result of living longer and being healthy.
Men in Ottawa have been utilizing shock wave therapy for years for various medical ailments. However, old age isn’t the sole cause of ED.
The best way to determine whether you’re a candidate for this ED treatment is to talk with your doctor about your situation, especially if you haven’t had success with other therapies

Erections need a sufficient supply of blood, and conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease that restrict blood flow to the penis can cause ED.
With shockwave therapy, a physician uses a wand-like device to deliver mild shockwaves to the penis. Shockwave therapy is also associated with the growth of new blood vessels and the recruitment of stem cells to the penis.
